Hiring takes a while it turns out.
This week was, again, mostly occupied by hiring. I kept getting new applications, had to start rejecting people, and invite others for interviews. As of yesterday, all of the applications are fully processed and replied to. This week I still need to do two interviews, and then actually come to a final decision on whom to pick. I'm already aggravating over that.
I can't say I've enjoyed the hiring process. It's taken a long time to get through everything, and most of it was work I don't think I'm well suited for – I had a lot of trouble judging people's writing samples, had never conducted interviews before, and still have not actually written a proper contract that'll work out. I also really hated having to decide on who to settle on. There were a lot of very promising candidates, and now with the final interview round it's only become even harder.
Still, I think I can form a decision on the two new team members this week, and hopefully get a contract together and signed by the end of next week. Whatever the case, I'll write about and announce the new team members next week. I hope things are going to work out well!
I did work a bit on other things, but they are not yet ready to show, so this entry is going to be fairly short. I will say that sounds are now in the game – but they need more work. With the next month just around the corner though it's obvious that I won't be able to get the next version out in time. I'm not going to push something half-baked out though, and instead just wait until it's well and ready.
I'll also have to write some more documentation for the existing systems and start prepping those so that they can be used by the rest of the team and not just me. That'll make for some nice weekly updates, I'm sure.
Alright, I'm off to watch Tenet now. See you next week for the team announcement!
